Vital Piglets – Better Weaning
Achieving successful weaning for piglets is a significant challenge that impacts their growth, health, and future productivity. The weaning process involves transitioning piglets from milk to solid feed, which can cause stress, digestive issues, and increased susceptibility to disease. Key challenges include ensuring adequate nutrition to support growth, managing stress associated with separation from the sow, and preventing common post-weaning illnesses such as diarrhea.
Succesful weaning management
Effective weaning management is crucial for promoting the health and development of piglets, leading to improved performance and welfare in later stages of production. Strategies for successful weaning include providing high-quality, easily digestible starter feeds, maintaining a clean and comfortable environment and implementing gradual weaning practices to minimise stress.
