Protein Feeding — Less is More

Dairy farmers are faced with increasing demands to reduce protein feeding and improve protein efficiency with the aim of reducing nitrogen waste and lowering ammonia emissions. On average, 0.5 kg less soybean or rapeseed is needed when ProtiSpar is added to the feed ration.

Sustainable and profitable dairy farming requires sufficient protein availability from either home-grown forages or protein ingredients. However, the protein source in feeds for cows are not equally available and is highly affected by rumen degradation, which is the key to improving protein efficinecy without compromising productivity.

ProtiSpar is a feed supplement made to  improve protein efficiency for dairy cows. It reduces bacterial protein breakdown in the rumen and increases the amount of amino  acids available in the small intestine and thereby absorption.

ProtiSpar

The derived benefits of improving protein efficiency by increasing by-pass protein and amino  acids absorption in the small intestine are, consequently, lower excretion of nitrogen (N) to the environment and better rumen environment without compromising productivity.

ABOUT:

ProtiSpar is a patented combination of essential oils that have  been carefully selected for their benefits on protein efficiency in dairy cows.

ProtiSpar is active in the rumen, where gram-positive bacteria,  such as „HAP” (hyper-ammonium producing) bacterial strains,  are inhibited.

The inhibition of HAP bacteria reduces the degradation of  ingested protein. Using ProtiSpar, up to 13% less ammonia is produced in the rumen with derived positive effects on pH.

Dosage:

Add 20 g ProtiSpar per cow / day.

  • Mix into the mineral feed.
  • Approved for organic production and non-GM production.

  • Use:

  • Ensure even distribution by thoroughly mixing NutriSpar into the feed.
  • Reduce protein feeding by 0.5 kg soybean meal.
  • Use grain, corn or corn silage as energy source.
  • Used for pasture feed cows or grass-based TMR rations.
